Our journey of compassion in Rwenzori

The Rwenzori region confronts a complex web of development challenges, including high fertility rates, widespread youth unemployment, poor sanitation, and persistent food insecurity, all of which are exacerbated by climate-related vulnerabilities and conflict. Effectively addressing this interconnected array of issues demands targeted, integrated investments in education and family planning to manage population growth, expanded energy access to spur economic activity, and agricultural modernization to enhance resilience and food production, which are essential strategies to lift the region out of poverty and set it on a path toward sustainable development.

At JEP Compassionate Hands, our vision is a Rwenzori region where women, girls, and children thrive, empowered and free from vulnerability. Our mission is to amplify women's agency for better livelihoods and childhood outcomes. We proudly serve orphaned and vulnerable children, young girls, and women in Rugendabara, Uganda, building on a history of dedicated community support and transformative action. This vision was borne in 2025 by Biira Joy, Muhindo Phoebe, and Kyakimwa Esther who were united in diaspora to cause change at home

Real change, real lives

JEP Compassionate Hands makes a profound difference in the Rwenzori region. Annually, we support over 200 children with essential scholastic materials, ensuring they have the tools to learn and grow. We've also facilitated vocational skills training for 16 widows who survived the Rwenzururu palace attack, empowering them with new opportunities and independence. These are just some examples of the positive changes we bring, fostering hope and resilience in the heart of our community.

Female-led, community-driven empowerment

What sets JEP Compassionate Hands apart is our unwavering belief in the power of women. As a female-founded and led organization, we understand that women's agency is the most powerful tool for holistic development within communities. Our approach is rooted in empathy, collaboration, and a deep commitment to sustainable change, ensuring that our initiatives are effective and truly responsive to local needs.
